I next decided to go with a 45 ACP. I thought that would be a good choice for home protection. I really didn't think I would like the 45 ACP for general shooting, because of its' higher recoil than my other calibers. Since I thought I wouldn't shoot it much, I saw the Hi-Point to be a good choice because of its' price. On the forums I got alot of mixed responses. Some liked it and some didn't. However, I decided to get it. I was very pleasantly surprised with it. I however, thought it to be a bit top-heavy and probably too heavy for concealed-carry (which is academic, since where I live you can't carry concealed). It turns out that I really like it, and I'll be taking it to the range alot more often than anticipated. This creates another problem since 45 ACP ammo isn't that cheap. The recoil isn't that bad, and it is pretty accurate. The only think I don't like is its' takedown procedure, which involves punching out a pin. The first time I did it I almost lost the stock spring. Although I did like this handgun, it was involved in a trade to bring this 1911 to my possession.
